My school is not listed as a participant. Can I get a dress at the event?

You bet! If you are currently enrolled in any SW Washington public high school, you are welcome to attend the Operation Fairy Godmother event and purchase a gown for $10 (limit one per student). However, you are not eligible to exchange your gown for another or receive a dress at no cost. Everyone who attends is welcome to all the services offered on the day of the event: make-up consultation, hair styling, alterations and professional photography. Of course, some services may be limited due to time and/or products available.

I am home schooled. Can I attend the Operation Fairy Godmother event?

Sure! You may purchase a gown for $10.00 (limit one per student) and take advantage of the services offered at the event.

How can my school participate in Operation Fairy Godmother 2011?

Talk with your school principal! Participation in Operation Fairy Godmother is open to all southwest Washington-area high schools. Each December, a letter is sent to every public school principal inviting them to join the project.

What are the benefits of participating as a school?

Only girls that attend a participating southwest Washington high school are eligible to donate one of her gowns and receive another in exchange, at no cost.
Girls who donate a gown at their school collection are given priority shopping hours on the day of the event and are eligible to win prom-related door prizes.

What does a school have to do to participate in Operation Fairy Godmother?

Each participating school must agree to:

Provide a staff member or ADULT volunteer to coordinate the Operation Fairy Godmother project
Organize and oversee a committee of students to work on the project
Plan, advertise and implement an in-house dress collection campaign 1 to 2 weeks in length between February 1 and February 28, as assigned
Solicit dress donations from students, school and district staff
Deliver collected dresses to the central drop-off site during designated hours
Advertise the March 20th Operation Fairy Godmother event
Provide a minimum of three (3) adult volunteers to help at the March 20th event
Attend all required meetings
